    • During her first marriage, she was forced to undergo an abortion by the head of MGM, as he thought pregnancy would hurt her good-girl image.

      The day she died, there was a tornado in Kansas.

      She was originally interred at Ferncliff Cemetery in New York, but she was moved to a private family crypt at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angles, California in 2017.

      In 1990, she appeared as Dorothy in one of four US commemorative postage stamps honoring classic films released in 1939.

      She was posthumously awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

      In 2006, she appeared on a US commemorative postage stamp in The Legends of Hollywood series.
