    Noteworthy

    • He was a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery, and landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. During the conflict, he was struck with 8 bullets - 4 to his leg, 3 to his hand (one of which severed the the middle finger of his right hand), and 1 to his chest (which hit a silver cigarette case, saving his life).

      He initially invented the Klingon language, which was later expanded on and refined by others.

      In 2016, he was pictured as Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott on one of five Canadian postage stamps commemorating the 50th anniversary of Star Trek (TV).
