    Noteworthy

    • After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1942, he and his family were relocated from Los Angeles to Arkansas and placed in an internment camp, later being moved to another camp in Northern California, until being released in 1946.

      He was the first Asian American to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

      In 2004, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by Emperor Akhito.
